What: A fashion show fundraiser for Circles Magazine (publishing division of Transition Services, Inc. 501(c)3 non-profit company)

When: Thursday, September 22nd, 2011; 5:30-8PM

Where: The Patio at The Arts Factory/ Bar + Bistro; 107 E. Charleston Blvd.

Description:

Circles magazine will team up with The Arts Factory and the Attic to showcase vintage fashions with a modern twist in a live fashion show outside on the patio of the Bar + Bistro. 20 models will showcase 20 outfits from various decades. Photos and an account of the show will be featured as the focus of the style section of issue 05 of Circles magazine themed “Trash 2 Treasure” (November 2011). Fundraising efforts will consist of ticket sales ($10 entry per person), raffle ticket sales at the event, and a silent auction of the outfits featured after the show. The event will start at 5:30pm with mixing and mingling, the fashion show will begin at 6:30PM, and the remainder of the evening will be the silent auction and more socializing. Our goal is to raise enough money to upgrade our website with an audio version of the magazine, sales of electronic subscriptions, a blog for additional articles, video documentation of recipes and DIY projects, additional ad space for magazine sponsors, and a web-based retail shop for Circles merchandise. Any additional funds raised will be used to purchase much needed computers and software for our growing number of program participants. See you there!

Other Info	Everything that we were, everything that we are, and everything that we will become carries thoughts and memories. Beginning with our first breath and continuing to our last, our minds begin to wonder and collect information. From dreams to actual events that happen every day, memories flood our lives and shape our futures. Remember the time when you went to an amusement park and you saw the panda on the carousel look at you and smile? How about the day you watched Venice slowly wash away, or when you found out you were a dad for just one day? Our lives are built on memories and as time passes the memories begin to morph, change, and eventually fade away. “Frozen” is a collection of memories seen through a viewfinder and recorded in a photograph. Some pieces are extremely vivid and colorful and others are contorted with the passing of time to convey the emotion behind, and the changes that happen to, memories in our minds. To conceptualize a memory, I created and used special filters to capture each moment as it happened instead of using post-processing to modify and change its meaning. Ironically, some pieces required hours or days of planning to capture and others were spur of the moment – just like memories. Even though “Frozen” is a journey into one man's memories and thoughts, there are times, places and moments that we all share...Do you remember? Other Info	Over 15 local artists have submitted art/design ideas to inspire the next generation of Studio 8 Ten products to be placed into the MUSE Collection, handmade products inspired by local Las Vegas artists. Of the over 30 submissions, 10 will be selected to be the "muse" for our artists to create new products for 2011. One will be chosen by the community through votes cast at our First Friday reception. As we go "Out with the Old, and in with the MUSE", we will be setting up discontinued and holiday products on super sale on the patio. It's a great time to stock up on bath and body products, cards, ornaments, gifts, and more!
